| Mr. Berlin's Room | | Welcome to our classroom home page.
My name is Bart Berlin. I have been teaching in special education for 13 years and regular education 3rd grade for three years before that. Before my wife brought me to sunny Minnesota, we lived in Portland, Oregon. I attended Portland State University for both undergraduate and graduate school. My graduate major was in Special Education, focusing on emotional disorders.
My philosophy of teaching is simple: Build the relationship first, then work on the issues. I also focus strongly on teaching structure with flexibility. Children need to know there is an order to the day, but also that things change.
This is my fourth year at North End and I love being here. The staff, children, and parents are some of the best I've ever worked with.
School isn't the only thing I love. I also enjoy bicycling, running, reading, and spending time with my family.
Welcome back to Mr. Williams and Mrs. Drake, our wonderful teaching assistants.
Mrs. Schmidt will be our speech teacher.
Welcome back to Mrs. Googins, our Occupational Therapy teacher.
Please feel free to stop by, call, or e-mail anytime.
Many of the children love the websites under Learning Links which can be found in the different grade level web pages.
