Starry Messanger - September 2008 Book of the Month
Welcome to my page, and thanks for visiting!

I am the curriculum coordinator at University Academies for Boys and Girls at North End Elementary. My job involves coordinating our reading program (Success for All), supporting our fabulous teachers, teaching a reading group, working with our district, our principal, and our Math Coach on curriculum programming, and getting to watch our students grow and excel.

I am a Florida native and a graduate of the University of Florida (BA, elementary education) and the University of North Florida (MA, educational leadership and administration).

Rowing in Florida
My husband and I relocated to Saint Paul in March when he was transferred by the United States Navy. When I am not enjoying my time at North End, I enjoy spending time with my husband, family, and friends, traveling, crew (rowing with the Minnesota Boat Club), dancing, and curling up with a good book.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions that you may have regarding the curriculum at University Academies for Boys and Girls!

Book of the Month
Starry_Messanger_Cover_4
Our September Book of the Month is Starry Messenger, by Peter Sis. This is an inspirational tale of Galileo Galilei, mathematician, astronomer, scientist, philosopher, and revolutionary. Galileo challenged the accepted limits of human knowledge, faced great adversity, and ultimately changed the way that we view the world. This is an excellent piece of children's literature incorporating science, history, math, and philosophy!
